Hill Top Garden

It’s been nice to have a few days off work this week 🙂 On Thursday, we decided that we were going to spend the day in one of our favourite places…The Lake District.  Such a magical place, with beautiful scenery and a feeling of calm and relaxation.  Just what we needed!

Bowness on Windermere

I’ve been to the Lakes every year since I was born! It has lots of happy memories for me.  Time spent with my family on our holidays – and now I’m creating new memories with Stew, taking our little Jassy Bear on adventure days out.  It was an extra fun day because we took our friend Nicky & Jassy’s boyfriend Milo along with us 😀

Kaz Nicky and the pooches

One of the places I wanted to show Nicky was Hill Top house in Near Sawrey.  The home of Beatrix Potter.  I’ve grown up with Miss Potter’s stories – she’s always been a huge inspiration to me.

Reading her books with my mum when I was younger (and even now! 🙂 You’re never too old!) I love to sit and copy her illustrations…

Saturday Doodles

We were allowed to take our pooches, in with us to walk up to the house to have a look (carrying them as we went).  The path leading up to Hill Top was filled with flowers in full bloom – lots of butterflies and bees enjoying the sunshine and the pollen!

Beatrix has the most wonderful little vegetable garden too.  You can go in there and have a look.  In some of Beatrix Potter’s stories, she often used her own house and surrounding areas in the illustrations.

Hiltop House

I recognised the bee hive in her garden that she illustrated in The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck 🙂 Whilst we were there, I spotted a Mrs Tittle Mouse scurrying into the flower borders.

Looking back down the path

It’s a tranquil place and a real haven for wildlife.  I even spotted a Peter Rabbit in the garden too! A place I would definitely recommend you pay a visit to, if you’re in the Lakes 😀

Anyway I must get back to my doodling! 🙂
