A Special Place

Mr & Mrs Brown a Year On

It was a great surprise when Stew told me how we were going to celebrate our first wedding anniversary… GIamping in Northumberland. We stayed in a quirky, vintage Shepherds Hut –  it was absolutely amazing!

Vicky and Rob from Wild Northumbrian have created a beautiful, peaceful haven in the middle of Northumberland National Park.  There were yurts and tipis dotted around the fields and woodland.  The cows and sheep were our neighbours, and the clucky chickens provided us with delicious eggs for breakfast.

Free Range Cluckies

The chickens loved mooching around the fields – fab free range cluckies 🙂

Vicky and Rob were great hosts and took good care of us.  It was nice to finally meet them, after talking with them through Facebook in the months leading up to our weekend break.

Sometimes, it’s good to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life;  no signal on your mobile, no internet or TV – just my i-phone to take lots of pictures.  To say we were relaxed was an understatement 🙂  We’re usually very busy when we go away and never find time to sit down… but here, time stood still.

Inside the shepherds hut

A bottle of vino greeted us, how lovely and thoughtful from Vicky & Rob 😀 Inside the Shepherds Hut and it was amazing and vintage, I loved all the decorations… pretty bunting, berries – such a natural touch I loved it 😀

We chilled out together, drinking wine, reading, playing cards and lighting the quaint wood burner in our hut. On our anniversary , we had a leisurely stroll down to Kielder Forest. We had tea and cake in The Carriages Tea Room 🙂

Autumn colours appearing in the ferns at Kielder Forest…

Here’s a few of the pictures I took, hope you like them… 🙂

Google Maps took us through a farmers field... we knew we were in the middle of no where when we had to move a cow out of the road hehe :D

A map of all the grounds and a beautiful old church. We walked round the grave yards and saw dates going back to the mid 1800's!

On our first night, we walked to the nearest pub down the quaint country lanes, you could here the owls twit-ta-woooing on the way back to the hut. It was so peaceful :)

When we got back from our lovely pub grub meal, stew went all cave man on me and lit a cosy fire. The only light in the evening was the delicate flicker of the candle light... very romantic :)

It was so peaceful having our stroll in Kielder Forest together. I couldn’t help but shout ‘hellloooooo’ and listen to the echoes hehe 🙂

Thanks so much Vicky and Rob for creating this tranquil escape for people to enjoy and explore.  We had a superb time – we didn’t want to leave! 🙂

We’re already looking forward to going back next year…we’re even going to take Jassy 🙂

  1. An amazing looking place. We love Northumberland too and go there usually a few times a year. Feb half term and then June, June to photograph puffins on the Farne Islands.
